Our beautiful woodland farm is nestled in the rolling hills of Garden Valley, between Lake Ellen and the Columbia River in Northeast Washington's rural Ferry County. [Read our History of Rural Ferry County, WA: A County Without Traffic Lights.]
We're blessed with a sandy soil mix that works well for growing ponderosa pines (and other evergreens), maintaining pastures, and growing fruits and vegetables.
Our woodland farm is still in its early phases, but we have egg-producing chickens, with plans for additional animals as our farm grows.
We have several fruit trees (cherry, apple, peach, plum), and have established an annual medium-scale fruit and vegetable garden.
We've
completed a management plan for our forest, and are now part of the
American Tree Farm System -- as a Certified Tree Farm. We have
established these goals for our woodland farm:
Long-term forest stewardship Natural, sustainable growth/harvesting Protection of wildlife habitats Multi-generational legacy

We
have also completed a 20-year Forest Stewardship Plan, with help from a
cost-share program with the Washington DNR, and are proud to also now
be a Stewardship
Forest.
